Greywacke Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc 2009

Just arrived from Kevin Judd, who was recently the chief winemaker at Cloudy Bay but now runs his own vineyard.

Kevin Judd can lay as much claim as any person for the high international profile enjoyed by Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc.  After studying at Roseworthy and making wine in Australia for a few years he joined Cloudy Bay at it's inception in 1985. 23 vintages later he finally resigned to start his own winery, after many years of badgering from friends and family.  This is the result.

Named after a sedimentary rock widely found in Marlborough, all the fruit has been sourced from contacts he has built up over the years.  This is serious wine with good aromatic lift.  It is tank fermented and very pure.  This wine will be followed by a barrel-fermented version in 2011.  We can't wait!!
